Opportunities in Children's Ministry
Benevolence FundOur benevolence fund has been depleted, and we need your help. The money used from this fund goes only to church members in need. This year, it has been our privilege to minister to several members within our church family. Just mark your offering envelope "Benevolence Fund."AWANA & Grapple Theme is "Just One More"A total of 17 precious children have accepted Jesus and followed Him in Baptism since August 2010! We know that parent’s, Sunday School teachers, VBS, summer camps and Christian friends have all been big influences in these decisions. We also know that each of these 17 faithfully attended our Wednesday night programs and study God’s Word. Drop by the AWANA and GRAPPLE display tables in the foyer to see how the Bible is studied and verses are planted in the hearts of God’s kids. Please consider being a part of one of these vital ministries. A volunteer sign-up form is on each table. -Sharron Poss, Children's DirectorFirst Baptist Book ClubThe book club meets the 3rd Sunday of each month at 5:00 pm in the Library. The Library is located off the old office hallway near the Fellowship Hall. Those who attend will enjoy fellowship and choosing a book to read. The following month, everyone will share what they have read. The organization of this book club has three main purposes:
Mission NewsThe next FBC sponsored BMMI Mission Trip will be to El Salvador, January 20-27, 2012. Call Julie Stewart at 903.407.8089 for more information. If you are interested in being part of a BMMI trip, but can't go at this time, another trip is being planned for summer.Prayer Room MinistryPrayer is listening...on God’s part and ours. Prayer offers strength, clarity, guidance, and energy for rebuilding. It is a personal companionship with God Who welcomes our joys, concerns, laughter, and tears. When I enter the door of the Prayer Room, I find all of these. As a “Prayer Warrior,” I not only give comfort to those on the prayer list, I also receive peace and comfort myself. I believe each person at FBC could experience this peace and comfort by volunteering in the Prayer Room. It is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-12:00 noon. All you need to do is call the church office to sign up for one hour per week and you will receive such nourishment of mind and spirit. -Judy BaushkeWe Need Your Email Address! In an effort to keep good communication in our church family, we are asking that you add your email address to the register in church.
